  1. Well, he didn't man up and tell the truth. Did we actually believe he would?

  2. Overall an uneventful annual meeting, unfortunately… a lot of visuals and colorful art projects but not a lot of answers or assurances. A lot of “this is what we want” but not a whole lot in how we plan to get there.

  3. That was disappointing no one had any questions. It was also odd the Board Member said it might be because a lot of questions were answered earlier. Why are they answering questions before the meeting? I'm sure other members would of liked to here the questions and answers.

    1. Wow. Talk about haters. So sad. I was at both annual meetings (I’m a member of both LGFCU and Civic), and we asked good questions during both meetings and had numerous opportunities to ask as many as we wanted.

    2. No haters here, just People with a Passion for helping People. Glad you enjoyed your day!

    3. For the person at the meeting, do you like the no branch strategy? Do you think the LGFCU members no longer want access to statewide branches? Lets hear the truth from you.

    4. For the person at the meeting....what questions did y'all ask cause I didn't hear 1 question asked at the end of the LGFCU meeting. Maybe all the questions were asked after the CIVIC meeting. I didn't stay to listen to that and maybe 8 should have. Was so disappointed after the LGFCU meeting that I just stopped listening.

    5. What are we supposedly hating on? I don't understand

    6. See no Evil - Hear no Evil - Speak no Evil and now Think no Evil. For months We've been told what to see, what to hear, how to speak and cause we're not smart enough - now the powers that be want to tell us how to think. I think they thought they reduced us to a bunch of well paid puppets.

    7. "Wow. Talk about haters. So sad." Sounds like our emails at work. Gym Haze is that YOU?!?!

    8. By any chance was one of those good questions, how are you going to serve your member who is a young widow with two little ones who is so beside herself with grief she can't function and right now is worried about her house payment and how to feed her babies? An unknown face in a Member Experience screen or sitting in the Branch office with her favorite credit union employee holding her hand? Not the Same.

    1. Noted. Just hope all SECU employees understand, we just saw 400,000 LGFCU Members, our friends & neighbors, our Civil Servants - who have helped to pay our salaries and build our branches over the years get sucker punched. No words can describe how hard it is going to be to see their faces when they realize what just happened

    2. Real interesting in my opinion! With all her passion of course she/her would be there.

    3. I think Naylor was begging for applicants for some High Positions in his new credit union Tech world, maybe there will be room for a few chosen ones. Be glad to give a reference.

    4. Yep and help the narrative/confusion of we're all in this together. Someone said he even publicly announced her presence, that must have been exciting

  6. It was really hard to take when Naylor said we understand "SECU loves our LGFCU Members, almost as much as we do." Really dude, you don't even know them, don't want to and never will when they get lost in your digital world.

  7. The biggest take away for me is we just witnessed what a few bad actors can accomplish behind closed doors. Spin it till you win it.

And we all know almost all of these LGFCU folks we've been serving for years don't even know their financial services and lives will be turned upside down over the next year.

  8. Feel so badly for Mr Smith, former LGFCU CEO and such a great man. Devoted so much of his life and hard work to his credit union...to see it end this way all because 1 new CEO with a tech ego and 9 BODs decision. Hopefully he is enjoying his well earned retirement but this has got to hurt his heart.

    1. Think that comment through. The idea of Civic is 10 years old or more. Who was the CEO when the credit union was built? Why was it built? If it was not built for this contingency then why was it built? Yes, to provide LG members an option. But the contingency became real. Civic was not built in the past 6 months of a new CEO.

    2. Surely SECU BODs understand our credit union has been put in this exact situation, by ONE measly vote, We can't make the same mistake. Our members statewide deserve the truth about what is happening to their credit union from Murphy to Manteo and (those extra special areas always left out) from points North to South.

    3. Thanks to my excellent training over the years from Employee Education, I read well, listen better and know exactly how to express myself honestly. There are always ideas around, I think we proved that the first 6 months of Hayes reign. So many ideas, those with work to do had to start using delete to manage their email.
Your facts didn't tell me how long Naylor was in a leading role at LGFCU?
Been around long enough to know there are always Wolves in sheep's clothing waiting to make their move in every business or organization.
Don't claim to know all the facts about LGFCU Admin, but the facts I know are: Many started their journey as SECU Members, Most think they still Are, Would be still if not for the Banks, CIVIC just sent them back to the Banks.
And 99.9% sure this wasn't Mr Smith's plan for LGFCU-Digital Only. He cared too much for his Members for that to be their fate.

    4. I would argue that LGFCU should not have NEEDED to enact a contingency at all. If SECU was “doing the right thing” then our sister credit union should have never had to flip the switch on their “contingency” plan.

    5. Contingency Plan became real this quickly cause of Hayes. Truth is probably no one at SECU would have the slightest problem with their actions if they were prepared to service their Members in the way they been served for the past forty years. We understand Independence and would actually love to have some of ours back.

    6. In Re: to the first reply on Mr Smith. Your words: "Yes, to provide LG members an option." Question, and it can be one or the other or both. We're easy to get along with, just seeking the truth.

      A. The wolf took that option from LGFCU members yesterday afternoon. B. You know why that contingency plan became real.

I don't think I have ever used the word Contingency except in case of Emergency. Can you give us a date that emergency occurred?

    7. LG members had an option of both for past 5 years. It brought services that SECU was not providing on their platform for partner credit unions. They could both, either or neither.

The need to move to Civic platform has been clearly known…the LG board did not want to merge with SECU. SECU was not going to service LG as a partner any longer. So what choice are you left with? Close!? Whatever you are looking for is not there. Board led decisions. They clearly support this move given their options.

      Delete
    8. I think a bigger question is why LGFCU which has enjoyed a decades long partnership with SECU would have to choose? I understand not merging since this was never “formally” offered as an option but why the sudden (one year to disentangle yourselves from an organization that you have been linked with for decades) need to strike out on your own? And how much more is going on that is not and probably never will see the light of day?

    9. "Many started their journey as SECU Members, Most think they still Are, Would be still if not for the Banks, CIVIC just sent them back to the Banks."

Of course there's no truth to that. LGFCU membership never extended to SECU membership. You could be a member of either or both but why would you think one would make you a member of the other?

      Delete
    10. Of course there's no TRUTH to that?

There's that word everyone seems to be having trouble with these days. Not sure if this statement is from a new employee needing educated, a veteran employee who has already become a part of the forget the past group or an LGFCU employee... which would actually be worse.
      .
The statement below is taken from "The LGFCU Story" easily found on their website or you can just Google it. A very easy read.

"In the beginning, there was one credit union for all of North Carolina’s government employees, both state and local. But a few banks insisted that this credit union was serving more than its designated field of membership, despite (and probably because of) our huge happy membership base."

"So State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) continued to serve the needs of state level employees while Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) was born to focus on the local government employees and volunteers we serve today."

Maybe not in this particular read, but other articles will go on to say SECU Leadership at the time were instrumental in aiding in the birth of LGFCU and has continued to support & happily serve their sister organization for 40 years. Another example of SECUs previous administration's reputation for always doing the right thing. Another reason for the strong feelings some have over what we just witnessed on Friday to 400,000 North Carolinians.

      Any other questions?

    11. Footnote to The LGFCU Story - should you have time to really read on their website, there is another segment which might be of interest...gonna share it, because it will probably disappear soon. Some of the language will tell you it was clearly authored by a previous administration with different ideas than those of Mr. Naylor and the current LGFCU Board of Directors.

      "Members decide
LGFCU is a not-for-profit cooperative. That means that everything we do is driven by our mission to improve the lives of our members, not driven by the need for a CEO to sail around the world on his gold-plated yacht. It also means that each of our members is a stakeholder in LGFCU. Every member gets a vote. Every member helps to decide and shape our future."

Truth, words and actions do matter, aren't forgotten and can make a Legacy
      or break a Career.

    12. Sure didn't see no example of Members decide in their annual meeting on Friday.

  9. Local needs to get the right CEO in place. As shown yesterday that requires a change.

  10. CEO Naylor doesn't like to use word lie, even though he is the definition of what it means.

  11. if anyone is hazy it's Naylor. Worked with him at SECU, never could make an independent decision. First rate a kisser.

  12. Wonder where Naylor is planning to sail to first
