Somebody's Nose is Growing - SECU Now Talking "In Circles" - Pinocchio # 6

 To: SECU Board of Directors

Dear Chairman Ayers,

You and the SECU Board are certainly establishing a solid record for truthfulness and full disclosure. Here is another example from your Fireside Chats with key member advisory board leaders back in November.

"In our rural branches some of those folks coming in there have no other choices. We refer to them as financial deserts. Those residents of North Carolina don't have other choices so they come in and want to do business with us, because we are really the only branch and the only financial institution within 75 miles or so."

http://getdrawings.com/image/compass-circle-drawing-61.pngWell, y'all remember back in 5th grade when you were taught how to use this little gizmo? Folks called it different things, but we were taught it was a "drawing compass". With this little tool you could stick the sharp point in a map and by twirling it around, the pencil would draw a circle of whatever size you wanted - like "within 75 miles", just for example.

Search around in some dusty drawer and see if you can find a compass and a map of North Carolina.[If you've updated your technology, any time since 1983, you can also do this on Google Maps - just sayin'!

Ready? Stick the point of the compass anywhere (or is that "anywear"?) you like and draw a 75 mile circle. Can you draw a 75 mile circle anywhere in which (Murphy to Manteo, "way-out-in-the-sticks" rural, extreme borders) a North Carolinian was not within 75 miles of a financial institution? No, I couldn't either. Now, try 50 miles. Nope, no luck. How about 25 miles? Nah, no luck.

Chaiman Ayers, you spent a lot of time and money "managing the message" at those Fireside Chats, then spent even more cutting and splicing to spin the message - and still couldn't get it right.

What in the "[insert whatever phrase is inappropriate]" are you and the SECU Board doing?

Casual with the data, casual with the facts, casual with the truth...?
