Won't Get Fooled Again - By The Who - "Meet The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss"?

✅ You might be interested in this text conversation initiated by Ms. Leigh Brady on the evening of Wednesday, June 14, 2023. This is the complete conversation.

✅ Ms. Brady did not respond to the last observation.

✅  The last 2 years have been a broad-gauged disgrace for SECU, in terms of unprecedented - and unnecessary - harm to the membership and staff.  It is difficult to unbreak an egg once dropped.

✅ Hopefully, the members and staff won't get fooled again.... nor be cynically played for fools any longer!

If you don't mind getting dizzy here's the video on the song "Won't Get Fooled Again"! [link: Who's Next - "Won't Get Fooled Again"]

... be sure not to miss the potential warning message in the song at 3:13 !

    1. Makes me wonder if she sees how Mr. Blaine cuts through the bull s&$t and she's scared. Scared of how knowledgeable he is. Scared of how he's helping employees and the membership take THEIR credit union back. Scared of her future with the credit union. She SHOULD be scared. There's power in numbers and there's a whole lot more people interested in SAVING the credit union than destroying it!

    2. Scared is not strong enough for what I would feel if I were This Board, Hayes, Brady or Exec Team and responsible for what they have done to this NC credit union. More like terrified as every day more info comes out on them.

  22. Has Brady been out there talking to folks to get a thoughtful understanding from the teams across the state on what needs to be done next? Get rid of RBL, raise interest rates, lower loan rates, put decisions and employees back in the branches, have them all report to branch manager, close business lending, straighten out the call center mess. Let’s see I’m just a member and I got 7 without thinking much at all. Off top of my head. Oh unwind security’s investments, bring back tax prep. This isn’t that hard to figure out. Get rid of banker mentality. THE CREDIT UNION IS NOT A BANK it’s a member owned cooperative . You Don’t make ‘profits’ it’s a not for profit. Ok. It’s been awfully quiet ever since the hasty announcement about her job. Anyone notice this Board didn’t say “unanimous decision” ? Wonder if we got another 6-5 split?

If she did, she, with her "great knowledge of the credit union", would be busting a$$ to begin the process of rebuilding our great credit union!

They know if the mass employees realize the “technology” they are wanting to usher in is vastly going to to reduce your skill set and your need for employment. 31. If this Board just promoted to CEO the next in line in 2023, I would like an explanation from them as to why the next line was not promoted to CEO in 2021. Because had that happened, SECU would not be in the hole these millions of dollars Ring Leader Ayers and his Clowns cost the credit union and us over the past two years. And our credit union branches wouldn't be torn to pieces from the coast to the mountains. I am already making plans to attend this year's annual meeting, just to ask this one question.: Just can't seem to shake the news of this Board paying 6.5 MILLION dollars of our money to Andrews Federal Credit Union for the opportunity to bring Jim Hayes into SECU. This was the most idiotic business decision ever made by a Board of Directors, but you clowns just keep making them. 1. I am interested in confirming the validity of a few statements made regarding newly appointed CEO. I was told This Board was given Hayes' resignation on Saturday, 6/10/23 and immediately called a meeting that same evening with Leigh Brady where she expressed to the Board (her words) "no one would want this CEO position." On Tuesday, 6/13/23 This Board announced the resignation of Jim Hayes as CEO and announced Leigh Brady had been named CEO of State Employees' Credit Union. No prior notification of CEO's resignation to the membership,. No posting of the CEO position. No opportunity for other applicants to apply. No discussion with any other interested parties involved within SECU. For this Board to have promoted their thoughtful, painstaking process of selecting Jim Hayes for the past two years. And most importantly considering the controversy within the SECU community regarding the hiring of Hayes in 2021, I find this hasty announcement by This Board very suspicious. Were all the Board of Directors in attendance at this called meeting with Ms. Brady on Saturday and are those minutes of this Special Called Meeting on record?

My fellow Members, something does not compute with This Board's hiring processes and/or decisions for our credit union.

  32. Why do they have a hiring freeze on poorly underpaid workers for roughly an entire year, but they have no problem bringing in all these new EVPs and SVPs that are either rejects from other companies or have no experience in banking and give them benefit plans/salaries so high that they can't afford normal staff. I'm all for change and technology, but this isn't the way. Leigh's gotta go and we need to go back to our core values of caring about the average member. 4. Fix Call Center Issues - scheduling.
      5. Fix Branch Issues - staffing.
      6. Bring back the work from home employees if they can't be reached by their phones and all others non-producing in their positions.
      7. A FAS Specialist needs to be in every branch in the state promoting the services and handling branch trust issues since they are the trained staff.
      8. Mortgage Lending Specialists working in branches should be in down time assisting in branch member service and allowed to answer phone calls instead of being told by Loan Admin they are not allowed to assist.
      9. Cardholder Services must have assistance working Fraud & Disputes, volume too high.
      10. Remove the Hayes Interlopers from their positions of authority since they have no respect for what SECU is or what it means to SECU members and employees. Re-instate the Module Program for them, they might learn something.

    7. The specialists role idea has been nothing, but a joke! It’s designed to diminish your role so they can CAP your salary. We use to be able to book personal loans right after they signed, but now we are not allowed and is done by another department. Sometimes the booking takes 2 days before someone gets the funds. No fault to the people doing the book either! They are slammed just like everyone else! They thought that would simplify, but it’s just complicated matters and the members are calling back in asking “where are my funds at for the loan I did yesterday?” Well we aren’t allowed to book the loan and do it start to finish…how stupid.

    8. It's designed to get jobs out of local branches, decision making out of local communities, soon you're just a teller line, then everything goes all digital, and more jobs move to Raleigh or out of state, members are alienated, then why have a branch? Even with the extensive branch network, SECU once had one of the lowest operating costs. Now branch jobs are being gutted, members hate it. Employees hate it. but this Board and Brady are all onboard. And what they are doing COSTS MORE. they'll be closing branches soon...

  39. Is it crazy to think that this whole fiasco has been orchestrated by the board since the beginning? That the board for whatever reason wanted to bring Leigh in 2 years ago but didn’t think that she as an insider could facilitate all the shake up that they needed? So they propose to hire an outsider to shake things up telling them up front that your position here is only temporary. And why would that outsider agree to it? Money. The up front money, who knows how much salary, the who knows how much to buy them out of their contract. And if it’s someone whose reputation wasn’t stellar before they came here. What have they got to lose? And then Leigh is brought in as the savior with her 35 years of credit union experience to take over and “right the ship”. But as Bomba said during the meeting today all the projects in flight can’t be stopped at this point. But why? Why would the board want to do this? How about for the same reason everyone agrees to shady dealings? Money. Wonder what someone’s stock portfolio that included those companies that the credit union has signed new contracts with over the past two years would look like? Fore knowledge of those changes could be extremely profitable when talking about contracts being signed with the nation’s second largest credit union. Just food for thought

  45. Number one on the list should be STOP the BLEED of long term employees that have put many years, heart and soul into this organization. It is just sickening to see how so many loyal, credit union loving IT employees have been treated. Bomba has no heart for our beloved non-profit. It would not cost one penny for him to be instructed to stop bringing in high level employees that know nothing about how we operate and honestly could care less about how we got to where we are today!! HEARTBREAKING 💔 to see them dictate and spend our members money so recklessly!

    1. If I had a dime for every question that the new leaders in IT asked the IT "legacy" when they arrived, I'd have... a dime. Maybe two.

They're not interested in learning. Interested in tearing down and outsourcing to vendors. That's all they know how to do.

  46. The last 2 years have been an abject failure. Financially, "culturally", operationally. Is anyone really surprised that employees will not trust anyone involved? There has to be a clean slate.

  47. you see the CU is not about them (although they want it to be), it's about taking care of your member/owners. They have lost sight on the mission and now they must be replaced because they can't be trusted. They can no longer man the front lines as they have left in those who seek to destroy... Simple as that. Do you trust these folks to have your back? They have shown otherwise ...

    1. this board never lost sight of their mission. take care of the elites, screw everyone else.

  48. bottom line is these new folks hated EVERYTHING about the CU (at least that's the way it seemed, why else change EVERYTHING?)... oh, except their money ... we like our goody bags! Plus you either get on board with us or Get Out ... (paraphrasing their words). So my guess is the new CEO got on board ...

    3. C-suite employees didn’t come to the credit union making less than what they made at the banks! Imagine the salary and potential contracts that are hidden, then merits on top of that last year.. along with bumps to AEVP and EVP. While us little ones in the branch are busting our butt just to get 3.5-4.5% merits.

    4. 100%. Btw, if you transfer to a new dept and the position you are transferring to is an entry position, you will be payed at or only a little over the posted salary level for that position. But, if you are Ricky from first citizens bank you will get a never posted position as an VP then you will get promoted to a newly created AEVP for a never posted position. Btw, these folks are not coming to SECU for a pay cut. The only thing C-Suits and the BOD want to cut is branch and MSS staff. Less ppl to pay.

  50. When Leigh said during the meeting that she didn't think one of the things that would need to be done was establish trust with management, I wondered why she would think that trust didn't need to be rebuilt. SECU has built a bully culture over the last two years. Employees are scared to say anything because they feel we will be run off, coached to leave, moved to an inferior position or someone will be hired to mitigate our role. It's happened so many times and we know who those employees are without saying their names. Then you have the new culture department that has come in and made us all think that there was something wrong with the culture that we have and then they spread mistrust. That department has done nothing but destroy the morale of the SECU staff. It's not appropriate to list names but I'm sure we could all easily list 10 names of employees who were brought in that have done nothing but damage SECU. Dont get me wrong, there are probably some great new hires but many in the leadership positions are failing us badly. Like it or not we have to work with everyone but let's hope that Leigh understands who is not the right fit for SECU and gives them some coaching or as Mia says "be a positive influence on wherever they may land."

    1. Leigh heads the list of failed leaders. Ask the seanc board what they heard from her about tiered lending.

    2. It is simple. She has no intention of having a work environment that operates on trust, only fear.

  51. "I am being thoughtful and talking to lots of folks to make sure I listen and hear thoughts of the teams from across the state. This will help me determine next steps" Here is what you need to do Ms. Brady is to purge the culture dept, purge marketing dept, purge H&RBlock Jarred and he can take the NICE system with him, purge and consolidate IT. How many damn EVPs, AEVPs, SVPs, VP do you need in one dept? How you going to promote someone to AVEP then tell staff they are actually overpaid but still have the ability to have a merit bonus.

    1. I know very few people that really listen. Matter of fact I can only name one that is an exceptional listener (and they are not related). Listening is not a skill that is taught... and most folks who think they are good listeners aren't... they already have their mind made up. She just wanted to use JB but he wasn't playing the game. So she took her ball and went home, hence no return answer. She could at least been cordial enough to say thank you for "listening".

    2. what are allthese initial positions? some I can figure out but not all, how bout a run through for us members reading the blog? EVPs, AEVPs, SVPs, VP? Vp is vice pres but what are the others?

    3. Any SVPs or VPs remember a couple years back when our folks met their requirements for promotions and we submitted - only to be told no funds, have to wait till July 1 and resubmit. Remember where those funds were used...this was the beginning of all these initial positions

    4. @ 9:20 those initials represent huge salary bumps depending on whether you are in Raleigh or not. Executive Vice President, Associate Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President

  52. If I say "No one would want this COO position" can I get hired as COO? I promise to just take the money and not ask any questions, the Board can depend on me!

    1. Oh sure. Come on board. Got it? "On board"... (wink wink) We are already overloaded. What's one more? Seems like you are THE perfect candidate for the Brady bunch.

    2. Can I apply? My background at another credit union may not be spotless but I do know how to take care of the BOD. And I do consider myself a part of the elite crowd.

  53. So ask yourself, who has benefited from all these changes, was it member/owners or c-suite execs and the BOD?
