From Mr. Mike Taylor - President Of NCRGEA - Following Up With His Board...

😎 Looks like NCRGEA is as "leaky" as SECU - awkward at times, but helps with transparency and the truth for the members.... [here's where you can find this letter on their website!]

✅ Mr. Taylor, in mid-September, writes a cautionary note to his Board about their endorsement letter. He particularly asks the board to take time to read the SECU strategic plan since: "That strategic plan is really what we endorsed."

"Good afternoon.

On Friday, September 1, our Board met in a called session and voted to endorse the three candidates for the SECU Board of Directors submitted by their Board nominating committee. I thought we had a good discussion about why NCRGEA should be involved in the SECU BOD election. Many of our members (many of us) are long-time members of SECU, and a sound and viable credit union is important to them (and us). That endorsement, in the form of a letter, was sent out in a mailer to our members.

Now, I am asking you to do several things in regard to our endorsement: (1) SECU, in December of 2022, published their strategic plan. I encourage you to visit their website and read that plan, Leading with Care: Our Vision for the Future. That strategic plan is really what we endorsed. [...two weeks earlier.] You may be asked why NCRGEA is involved in this BOD election for another organization. Knowing about their strategic vision is a good answer to that inquiry! (2) Also, make sure, if you are an SECU member, to vote and reach out to friends who might also be eligible and ask them to vote for the three candidates we endorsed.

Alice and I have been members of the Credit Union for over 40 years, and we voted for the first time ever last week. This week we held our first of three conferences (Statesville, Durham and Greenville) over the next two weeks. We are expecting some blowback from a few NCRGEA members about this endorsement. We are prepared to answer any questions about our endorsement, but not in a public forum at these meetings.

Please remember you are invited to attend any and all of these conferences. We have strong pre-registration for all three and expect good turnouts.

Finally, I am reminding everyone about your responsibilities as a board member in regard to confidentiality. Comments, discussions, and e-mails regarding this and any topic the Board considers are not for public consumption. [... if so, you might want to delete this letter from the website!] PS... Copies of both the letter of endorsement and frequently asked questions were attached to the Friday Finale last week. In the event you have already deleted that edition, I am asking Sara to send copies to all Board members.

 Mike Taylor,  NCRGEA President "

... if you tried to make this stuff up, nobody would believe you!

  5. What Taylor misses completely is what he has valued at secu over last 40 years is not what has happened over last two disastrous years, nor what is being planned for future.
From one member to another, Mike you mislead and have misled the board. Do your homework prior to voting. this hurts all 60,000 members.

    1. CEO is getting a kickback from SECU more than likely. Where is Kristina Ray? Forget you have a job to do? Or did SECU pass you a fat check as well?

I think most retired people know by now that touting a plan and executing a plan are two different things. If the SECU Board's current Strategic Plan said "drive SECU into a ditch", I'd actually believe it.

  8. I'm starting to think no ones does their homework anymore. The board hiring and giving 100% support to a CEO with a checkered past. And the head of NCRGEA seemingly oblivious to the problems at SECU.

    1. Oh they did their homework! NCRGEA is cashing in! Ole Mike Taylor is about to get a big payout along with NCUA, APCO, Jim Hayes himself and NCR from the SECU cronies. I wonder how that will show up on the balance sheet?

    2. Seems like it would be easier just to be good stewards and don’t touch what wasn’t broken. Now you broke it and can’t fix it. Hard to use a bandaid that has slime and filth covering it to heal a wound. Slides off every because of the SLIME time. To heal a wound. You must get a NEW and CLEAN bandaid to cover the wound. Kinda like getting a new board you know?

    3. Has nothing to do with policies---it's the good old girls and boys network --- long time democratic lobbyists and operatives (neighbors and BFFs too). Who can we hire in this job that will help me out? ALL about political favors at this point... Not about helping out the membership--a concept this board has never understood.

  10. I am a member of SECU and I would like to request that they STOP USING MY MONEY to send PROPAGANDA for incumbent candidates that I want to REPLACE!

This whole situation with NCRGEA, which stinks to high hell, is reason enough everyone should want them out!

  11. but he was telling the board to read the strategic plan because that was what they endorsed--assumption is that the board endorsed without reading the plan!!??? What?

  12. Just read the strategic plan and whew, lots of words but nothing of substance. Lots of leveraging, increasing and embracing. Yack yack yack.

  14. I reviewed the 17 members of the NCRGEA BOD and half of them retired from local/ county agencies. Can not believe all are SECU members! If not a SECU member, how can they be making recommendations when they do not really have a dog in this fight!

  15. If this were a fair election….you know without paying CEOs, Boards of other organizations, hiring 3rd party election facilitators, endless advertisements for the incumbents…we would win in a landslide. But with the deck stacked against the working class employees of NC…it might be a lot closer of an election for you elites since you are literally buying votes at this point. Pathetic. Weak. Low. Disgusting.

  20. Here's to Confidentiality Mr. Mike Taylor, you probably would have faired better leaving that out of your note to your Board...but then again you should not have placed NCRGEA in this situation at all.
