In Case You Are Planning On Attending The SECU Annual Meeting Next Week...

But, here are the instructions sent to SECU staff this morning about the "Member Feedback Forum":

✅ MEMBER FEEDBACK FORUM

"One hour has been designated for member feedback immediately following in-person voting. There will be two mic stands in the center aisle for the Member Feedback Forum. The Parliamentarian will give instructions to the audiences. There will be six mics positioned around the room, each one marked 1-6 for ease of the Chair to go sequentially to each member when it is their turn. Staff members will be positioned at each mic. Attendees will form around these stations to provide remarks. The Board Chair will lead this portion of the program, asking members to keep their remarks to 2 minutes. A time clock will start and restart once the the member starts speaking. The Chair will enforce the 2-minute rule and the A/V Team will cut a member's mic at that point. Since we will not have time for debate on issues, staff will have "fact sheets" available to debunk myths. The Chair can acknowledge feedback and in case of mistruths, verbally mention that we have a fact sheet available to set the record straight."

✅ The SECU Board changed the bylaws 6/30/2023 (3 months ago!) to assure SECU members - that means you and all 2.7 million SECU members - no longer have any opportunity to introduce "polite resolutions" nor make "substantive" motions at the Annual Meeting. If you haven't googled the word "substantive" recently, it means anything important or meaningful!

😎 So, the SECU Board still welcomes members to attend the Annual Meeting, as long as you don't plan to do anything important or meaningful.

👉  We continue to ask the NC Credit Union Commission, the Credit Union Administrator, and the NC Attorney General's Office to abide by their statutory duty and enforce the law on behalf of 2.5 million North Carolina SECU members; and, equally important, on behalf of all credit union members in North Carolina. [see link 10/3 post]. Time is short!

The SECU Annual Meeting is October 10, 2023 a 1:00 pm, Koury Center, Greensboro.

  1. Inundate their offices with protests about illegal bylaw changes? Seems that the regulatory agencies think Jim and Jean Blaine are acting as individuals and not as representatives for all of us members and employees. What is the best course of action at this time?

  2. It sure would be neat to have a copy of that "fact sheet" ahead of time. Hint hint. If there are myths that need debunking, why wait until the meeting?

  3. Turn off the mic on Member Owners.
Fact Checkers present like on Facebook.
Speaking of Facebook and in the spirit of transparency, why has SECU been hiding the comments on their We are SECU campaign Facebook pages for the past few months.
Must be a control thing with this board.

  4. What exactly are they scared of? For a VOLUNTEER board to be this afraid, says something about them. What exactly are they hiding from and what's in it for them to remain on the Board?

  5. Will any of the so called “regulators” or commissions do their jobs?!?!?! Or are they complicit, too?

    1. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has a complaint process. Very easy to use and responses are due in 30 days. Public record as well I believe.

  8. When people (NC Credit Union Commission, the Credit Union Administrator, and the NC Attorney General's Office) turn a blind eye, to the oath they have taken to uphold the law, society starts to break down... we are witnessing this happening everyday now ... Power and greed corrupts a man's soul ...
However I might mention, the seat of power is already takin, and it ain't these organizations or this board... you have free will to "Do the Right Thing" ... or not ....your choice.

  9. Can someone confirm whether or not you have to preregister to attend? There used to be a link on the website but I don’t see it anymore. It now just mentions the date time and location. Did they do away with the registration?

  10. How many of the 50 former employees can we expect to see Tuesday? Will we get in trouble for speaking to them? I've got less than 5 years to retirement and don't want to get in trouble. Hehe We had unnecessary security at the managers meeting, lord knows what it will be like for this one. And the cost to the members at that.....

  11. I hope all 50 and I will personally have no trouble speaking to them all! They are my mentors and friends!!
