The SECU Board has released the Notice of the SECU Annual Meeting [link].
😎 Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse. On page 7, the SECU Board has shown its true colors. SECU Members will not be allowed to speak at the 2024 Annual Membership Meeting!
Here are the two rules that eliminate member participation at the 2024 SECU Annual Meeting:
Rule 5. Up to one hour will be set aside during the meeting for a question-and-answer session. Members must submit any questions in advance of the meeting.
To permit as many members to ask questions as possible, we ask that you
limit yourself to one question or topic. Members will be requested to
provide us their name and city of residence. We intend to answer as many
questions as time allows. If we receive multiple questions on the same
topic, we may group them together and respond to them collectively. If there are questions that we are unable to answer during the question-and-answer session and are of general interest to members, we will post a summary on our website after the meeting. While
we welcome member questions, we will not address questions that (i) are
not relevant to SECU, (ii) contain offensive or otherwise inappropriate
language, derogatory references to individuals, or that otherwise are
in bad taste, (iii) relate to pending or threatened litigation, (iv) are
repetitious of questions asked by others, (v) relate to personal
matters, such as individual employee relation matters or individual
member account issues, or (vi) are otherwise determined by the Chair to
be inappropriate or otherwise not suitable for response during the
Annual Meeting.
Rule 6. No substantive motions shall be permitted from the floor other than those provided in the notice of the meeting.
😎 If you want the chance to submit a question, you do so here by registering for the Annual Meeting [link]... you may only ask one question!
Well, hope it's now very clear to all of us what this election is about.. the 11 members of the SECU Board are taking away the democratic and cooperative rights of 2.8 million SECU member-owners.
If you've been hesitant to speak out for your credit union. Hope you'll stop being bashful... it truly is now or never!
... North Carolina deserves better!
One question:
ReplyDeleteWhere did they put the video of the 2023 Annual Meeting? 2022 is there. So is 2021.

Glad I recorded the best parts on my phone 🤓
DeleteIt is certainly strange! The 2022 Annual Meeting is still up on you tube with Jim Blaine making his resolution! Wonder why they left that? 2024 won't cause them any problems. They get to answer questions they make up. Bet they won't publish the list sent to them!
DeleteBlaine-Ford-Hawes-Parrish all spoke last year at the Annual Meeting. Pretty sure the board and Poor Leigh didn't want anyone to be able to hear what those four said to their fellow members.
DeleteThis Board continues to live up to their commitment to transparency and giving the members a voice. Haha! They are allowing us to vote!! Let's "Do the Right Thing." and put Blaine, Ford, Hawes and Parrish on the Board!
DeleteThis is monstrous.
ReplyDeleteLast year's meeting was such an embarrassment for them. That's why the video went missing.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that!!
DeleteI pray for SECU. If we lose this election, we will be condemned to live with a socialist financial institution, ruled by bureaucrats and their masters. This MAY be your last time voting ...
ReplyDeleteDemocracy according to the Brady Bunch.
ReplyDeletenext up...
ReplyDeleteBoard members that get zero votes, have zero qualifications, have zero connections to SECU. This is the most ridiculous, anti-democratic, laughable joke I've ever seen from a non-profit organization to it's member/owners! They should be kicked off the board let alone voted off!!!!
No one should be surprised by this-thank goodness after this election this foolishness will be stopped & we can start to forget the last 3 years ever existed!
ReplyDeleteYep, we got this. They cannot and will not suppress us!!!
ReplyDeleteSure are trying to!! and being pretty successful at shutting out members concerns and employees. Got an echo chamber with lots of ex-bank employees running things. No member survey, no feedback from anyone except hired consultants who fly them around in their private jets. and the incumbent board treats legacy employees like they are ignorant, backwards, folks living in the past! Some folks are easily fooled into thinking they are more important, smarter, and know what is best for the rest of us.
Deletenewer isn't always better ... these new folks seen a $50+ billion institution and they wanted some of that money, although they hadn't done anything to build it up or deserve it. They were wolves in sheep clothing and the board opened the door and invited them in ... these aren't dumb folks so there must be another reason they did it ...

DeleteSeems like the fix is in! Just listen to the current board speak as it’s the truth! No, non-facts and lies is what these changes are for! Vote them out!
ReplyDeletesecu these days, talk about weird!
ReplyDeleteSo who's overseeing this election? Our Board???
ReplyDelete"It's not the people who vote that count, it's the people who count the votes."
Any news on when MLOs will start reporting back to branches officially?
ReplyDeleteI’ve heard October 1st.
DeleteThis Board election is a great real world example on why you can't let your guard down while others take over your institutions with only their needs and wants addressed...
ReplyDeleteThe credit union belongs to the NC State employees' member/owners not the board/CEO or any outside influence... they are there to work for us ... not be our rulers!
Don't fall for their deceptive practices and language...
BTW, when are they going to give the gym back to the kids of NC and their teachers?
When those on the inside throw open the gates to the invaders, it is properly called Treason ...
ReplyDeleteTrying to silence member/owners is shameful behavior, but it is not surprising. They don't want another surprise resolution introduced from the floor or people speaking out in opposition of their plans. In the first 80+ years, SECU established a trust with members. The new/new board/executives are taking advantage of that trust. Eliminating transparency and member input is not trustworthy. If they want to operate a commercial, for-profit financial institution, they should go elsewhere and and let SECU get back to making a difference (not detriment) for members and NC communities. Mz obvious, Charity
