Carolinas' Credit Union League Burnishes The Reputation Of All North Carolina Credit Unions With "Astro-Turfing" Campaign

http://www.gingl.at/musikagentur/wp-content/uploads/Clown1.jpg Yesterday, CEO Dan Schline and the Carolinas' Credit Union League asked you, your staff, and your members to send in "prewritten" and "prepopulated" email messages on H. 410 to your Representatives and Senators. In the political arena, that tactic is called an "astro-turfing" campaign - because it's not real "grassroots"! Get it?

And, you can imagine how your Reps/Senators view "astro-turfed" emails from you, your staff, and your members. Think they are fooled? Think they find you, your staff, and your members credible - or just silly?

Another nick-name for astro-turfing among professional political folks - who take politics and public policymaking deadly serious -  is "Calling In The Clowns"!

Aren't you glad that Mr. Schline and CCUL invited you, your staff, and your members "to the Circus"?!?

...make you (and your staff and your members!) feel funny?  Or just "look" funny?

Surely our legislature understands these fellas care nothing about the Credit Unions or the Members they are hired to represent. They are only wanting to play with the Big Bankers under the credit union umbrella.

  2. If you are a CEO or Board of a small NC credit Union do not fall for this schtick. You should be hearing those famous words in the back of your mind, "Danger Will Robinson! Danger!" SECU and other large credit unions are coming for your members and your very existence. Do NOT support H 410. CCUL is not your friend. They are SECU'S Puppet.

    1. Agree with this comment. Please take note...for decades, SECU had a Board and an Administration team that understood the value of smaller localized credit unions across the state. Not only did SECU live in harmony and respect these CUs, often times SECU would help these smaller organizations when needed. (LGFCU, Greater Kinston, Latino, Press.) Well....SECU has a new BOD and Executive Management Team now who don't share the same thought process. Need proof? Look no further than what's happened to LGFCU. Leaders of smaller CUs...this is not the same SECU you've previously been able to trust and live amicably with. Leaders of smaller credit unions...HB.410 is not your friend...even though the CCUL is trying to sell it to you in that manner. Leaders of smaller credit unions...do your homework and take action, make your voice heard.
