N.C. Credit Union Division - Wiil Take A Look At SECU Election Procedures

ðŸ˜Ž Just got an email from Ms. Kristina Ray, the new North Carolina Administrator of Credit Unions!

Remember a couple of us went by to see her last week [link 7/27/2023 post] to discuss three issues: 1) non-publication of financial statements, 2) new SECU election pocedures, and 3) recent SECU bylaw (6/30/2023!) changes.

✅ Here's what she had to say:

... sorta like getting a handshake on a first date, but it's a start! At least she responded!

  1. baby steps ... Thank you for pursuing this. Without you this board would run roughshod over the membership!
Maybe they didn't anticipate any pushback?
They figured they would just fleece the flock!

Substitute SECU for America to that quote ...

  3. exactly! unlike this board. Well I guess this board does repond. They refuse to publish financials(against NCCU law!) This board changes election procedures at the last allowable minute, and tries to intimidate the membership with those changes. And the Bylaw changes, that Rose Connor approved as the door slammed on her. Hey! When are you going to talk about those by law changes,Mr. Blaine??

  5. A little off topic but I find it refreshing that Ms. Ray typed out State Employees’ Credit Union correctly. Wish some of the new hires (particularly out of state employees) would take note and at least attempt to get this correct in email signatures.

    1. That little detail reveals so much of the newbies. Some may have never even been to NC.

  7. The small battles come first - keep fighting!!!! This Board and Brady need to be held accountable. They also need to be reminded we are member owned not Board and CEO owned. The October meeting will be very interesting. They aren't going to want us to be there and surely they will not want anyone to speak other than themselves. Onward and Upward!!!

Although this is not directly related to this specific post. It seems to be another example of how our CEO randomly speaks without any regard to the content! Whatever comes up, comes out.

Recently had an Advisory Board member to ask about something they had heard during their time in Greensboro at one of the Fireside Chat events. The Advisory Board member was taken back when Jim began the meeting and without any hesitation he willing shared with a few hundred people, some SECU employees and some Advisory Board members details of a meeting he had at a certain mansion with a certain elected official. Jim went on to applaud SECU regarding the establishment of Fat Cat and Zard accounts to attract the younger members. Jim continued by sharing the elected official he was meeting with has accounts with SECU. Jim actually named the individual/elected official.

The Advisory Board member questioned if that is considered a breach of privacy and if it “broke” any employee policy? They asked because they have been reading the older post trying to play catch up since learning about the blog. They referenced the February 25 post? Plus they showed much concern for the safety and privacy of their own accounts.
