"Industry Standard": A Second Opinion...

SECU needs to be like everybody else..."industry standard" you know!  "They" know what's best for our members - right? Nope...

Getting ahead of the herd means leaving the herd.

SECU succeeded by being different... and by always drinking upstream from the herd!

... want to be a filet mignon or just "industry standard" ground chuck? There is a difference!

It's so easy to get caught up in the things of this world.
SECU 'was' a lamp unto the feet of those who needed financial help and guidance in a world of greed. Sadly the board and CEO have decided to take the road most traveled.

  4. Just like they tried to slap lipstick on a pig with risk based pricing by changing the name to tier based lending…industry standard is now referred to as in line with market. Same ol’ pig.

    1. Member savings rates aren't in line with market. Why won't the other eight resign so the members can restore our credit union. Better to go home than be sent home.

  5. How about taking a deep dive into all the differences from 3 years ago. Marketing, Culture and Green Team. How much money has been spent on these 3 departments? How much money has been wasted on new employees and perks for new employees? I can't even go across town and use the gym. Wise use of our members money for example.

    1. Give the gym facilities back to the teachers and children, the members you are suppose to represent!
Go carry yourself to the nearest gym like the rest of us ...(Note, the nearest gym isn't in Hawaii)

That's the goal ... this is like buying a company and breaking it up into pieces and selling them off, only it's the non-profit business way of doing things...
they are dismantling SECU drip drip drip ....

    6. They should really be a key talking point. We shouldn’t just hire people out of the metropolitan areas and that’s what they want. No more rural hires for the contact centers in the local communities. Those local contact center jobs are just as valuable as the branch. Keep jobs in local communities! Build the talent you have! Don’t look to replace

    7. Benesh just needs to go ahead and move on to his next job and stop screwing up our employees and members. Is he connected to the groups any contracts have been signed with?

    8. Now no way to move up b/c we would have to drive to the contact center they assigned us to , to be a manager. 1.5 hour drive 2 times a day. So we are stuck at our same roll

  8. The business model we previously had which separated us from the rest of the industry standard and made us so successful was:

Less management internally and more knowledgeable member facing employees at the ground level. There has to be trust from executive management that local management and local employees can best service the members.

With our current multiple level, micro managing hierarchy, we have strayed from our previous model and it's backfired. Way too many levels of management internally. We have regressed back to industry standard. Give "boots on the ground" employees the ability to make decisions and let's get back to being the best. Time is wasting...it ain't rocket science.

    1. My department used to have 1 VP, and the rest were "boots on the ground" team members, actually doing the work. We had meetings maybe once every 4 to 6 months, only as needed. Things were humming along nicely.

Since the hostile takeover? Let's see...despite having the same number of staff and the exact same job duties, we now have an SVP, a VP, and FOUR "managers". We are constantly having meetings about nothing, and silly micromanagement that serves only to justify the managers' existence. They do almost nothing. Produce nothing. Contribute nothing.

There is nowhere near enough work to justify that size of a leadership team. It's the workload of one person being done by SIX. That's six salaries the members are paying for. And that's five fewer people actually serving members day to day.

      It's INSANE.

    4. Previously, our “managers and VPs” were in the trenches with us. That’s what made this place great. Job title didn’t matter. Our VP ran a teller drawer on occasion when needed. Managers always doing loans alongside with us. What happened to that? Can we go back to that?

  9. Brady picks up sloppy seconds. The bored found her unfit at the 1st go around. Now all of a sudden - with lipstick - it looks better? The bored is weak. They made a mistake in the Hayes -- now they compound the mistake in the Brady. The bored compounds mistakes on steroids. Money is squandered - and it is not paying dividends on deposits. Can the bored publish the expenses they run up on travel, conferences, wine & dine? It's a lawless bunch. It is financial terrorists - they rob from the vault for self gratification. Rape, Pillage & Plunder - call it "Cartel Credit Union" - vote the bums out of office.
