SECU: Strategic Planning - More (Or Less?) in '24?

The "WE ARE SECU" plan - 2024?...

              "Inside the box" planning '23?

                [Results? ... predictably prehistoric!]

* Cromagination - definition (archaic: see limited, backward):  a New/Newandrathal attitude, hotly pursuing Cromagnon "industry standards", while trying to create a "digital dinosaur."

... Well, Yabba Dabba "Doo, What"!?

  3. Another promotion email from your resident H&R Block Jared while front line branch employees have had no career path or promotions in over a year. When is it enough? Are they trying to push branch employees out? Benesh gives off the vibes & seems like he’s living in his own little world.

Remember kids, the promotion freeze doesn’t apply to higher ups! ☝🏻

    1. They are creating classes for the membership and employees. Certain levels get promotions and the lower levels don’t. They aren’t promoting or hiring until they get the AI and core locked up before they cause havoc amongst the lower level employees. VPS and SVPs you are our safeguards at this point. Hold on to October. Don’t feel pressured to make managers micromanage employees. You’ll lose a lot of great staff that way and I know many VPs and SVPs still have the servants heart. Stay strong and hold onto the existing employees and we cleanse out the exec and board in October

    2. Yeah notice they are hiring “Yes men” with no experience. No wonder the credit union is failing when the dumb keep hiring the dumb.

    3. Don’t disagree one bit, but at least they are SECU employees and not FCB cronies who got the promotions-that says something…

    4. It is disgusting to see what is happening. Jared/Tyrone this is not sitting well with the branch staff. More and more promotions for you and your buddies. Give me a break. And unnecessary promotions at that! This organization keeps promoting the good ole boy club and not those who have records to show their worth. Tone deaf

    5. Tyrone has sold out he isn’t for the branches. He has just been a credit union darling but has done well hiding his lack of knowledge and micromanaging ways. BORA micromanaging is TT all over it. He hired his yes man who really has no knowledge. Wonder how any deserving SVPS got passed over for that?

    6. Any chance these are promotions in title only? Wouldn’t put it past SECU to pile on more work and hours for the same pay.

    7. Really was disappointing in at least
one of the new promotions today. Really? Wonder how they justified that over many others.

    8. All buddy hires while branch staff cant get promoted at all.

    9. There is nothing fair about this process. We all knew who it would be. Someone said above buddies…that’s exactly what they are. They spend significant amount of time outside work together with the decision maker. So if you want a promotion go hang out after work and spend time with them!

  4. In today's newsletter it shows how to order business cards. Is it just my imagination or has the SECU logo changed???

    1. 'Business cards' or 'Going Out of Business cards"?

    2. Did the SECU happen to spell South Eastern Credit Union?

    3. It is not your imagination. The new business cards are extremely different than the former ones. The SECU logo is smaller but Marketing sure did manage to splash that orange first grade corner sun on the cards to match all the other poorly designed promotional material. In my career I am not aware of orange representing anything at SECU except FATCAT. What is the deal with the orange? Also, only ABMs and above can order the cards because promotions and career path are still held hostage so additional upper level management can be hired. Someone needs to catch a damn clue. We have FSRs that have worked their butts off for many months with no hope of promotion. However, RSVPs, some SVPs, and others sure did get that BORA knocked out fast. These same folks need to stand up to H&R Block Jared and HR and get the promotions unfrozen and the career path finalized!

    2. look for a bomb to drop 180 days before the annual meeting date---just like last year when the bylaws got changed in a very underhanded and possibly illegal manner at 5:30 180 days before the October meeting. Christina Ray, Where are you? Since the state regulator did not step up, The Eight and Brady will probably have another go at it.

    4. I gave up on Ms.Ray a long time ago. Politicians and governments always simp for the corporations. SECU hasn’t had that problem because of Mike Lord and Blaine. They didn’t simp. They took charge and ran it for the benefit of the membership. Not many good CEOs left in this country. They all work together with politicians for money and control. Goes hand and hand.

  6. 'We Are ...' may be changing to 'We Were ...'

Sooo I took a glance at the SECU - Financial Status that is posted on 'their' website and it's dated October 2023.

'They' better go back to that '87 technology where the posting was up-to-date!

    1. What are they doing right? Has their been any success since Brady-Hayes had her listening tour of the state? Or has it been all talk and zero policy change? other than perhaps capturing a few more long term employees, if these remarks about employees are correct. Long term employees please speak up in defense of the first 85 years of successful business practices. Help stop the decline in service to members across the state.

  7. Tellers…they are wanting to change your positions to relationship bankers. This will vastly cut down on teller staff. Kiosks and AI rolls out. You’ll turn into a person who stands at the door and greets people essentially. Vastly reducing your skill set and pay.

    1. We already know this and we're really disappointed that tellers are...well..."just tellers". We've never been made to feel as useless as we do now.

    2. Tellers. Just know you are valued! I haven’t been a teller in years, but I mostly respect and appreciate the position. It’s a great building block and it’s one of the toughest jobs in the company. You are appreciated and we will continue to fight for your jobs!

    3. Typo. Didn’t mean to put “mostly”

    4. @1:54. Thank you! Seriously, THANK YOU! I've been a teller a long time and, up until recently, felt like a true benefit to the branch. That surely has changed but I still try to provide excellent member service and serve as a smiling face for the membership. All while knowing our wonderful institution is being attacked by greed.

    5. Tellers, you are valued. I am an FSO and fully understand that tellers are the "face" of the branch. If one to three minute interactions with members are not pleasant with tellers, why would a member want to spend time with FSOs for loans, additional accounts, etc. The tellers I work with are amazing. I see their job equally important to mine. What all of us do as employees matter to the majority of the membership. We are SECU! I was SECU under Mr. Blaine and Mr. Lord. I am still SECU under Jim and Ms. Brady's leadership. I work for and care about my members just like the majority of employees do. God, I miss true leadership like Mr. Blaine and Mr. Lord. The two understood who we show up to work for. This is SECU! I don't care about the way H&R Block or First Citizens Bank or Andrews Federal Credit Union does business. Hold on fellow employees. An election is coming up for the board.

    6. Tellers are front line, rock, face of CU... we all know that "they" don't...get rid of 4 more in "24 and we'll get this fixed.

TELL YOUR MEMBERS THAT THEY ARE GETTING SCREWED! Start now because October isn't that far off. Hang!
