SECU's Latest Moon Shot - SECU Members Not "Understanding"...(Or Perhaps They Do!)

Ms. Moon,
I received your email - see below.  You stated you appreciated my understanding . . .
I respectfully do not understand.  Here are my reasons why I do not understand.

~ In your email you state “the Board is considering other options for communicating with the broader SECU membership, including making information regarding potential changes to the Election Policies and Procedures available following the meetings with the MABs.”

~ Based on the NC Statutes which deal with the administration of State Chartered Credit Unions, I do not see where your SECU Board members (11), SECU executive team members (100), SECU Branch Managers (200), and/or MAB members (3,200) supersede the “broader SECU membership "(2,000,000+).

~ The number of those persons you reference in your email who will be introduced and given information in your 2 WebEx meetings (4,000*) - pales in comparison to the number of the broader SECU membership which I understand is in excess of 2,000,000 members strong.
* I took the liberty of rounding up this number - 4,000 - since I’m not certain of the exact number for the executive team membership, and exact number of the Branch Manager membership.

I am requesting for you to now please -
1) Share the actual number of MAB members who attend the two WebEx meetings
2) Live Stream the two WebEx meetings like the Annual Meeting or
3) Post immediately recorded videos of the two WebEx meetings on your Website.

Thank you for your close attention,
Dr. Sarah Hawes

Dear Ms. Hawes,
"Thank you for your email and interest in attending the upcoming Webinar hosted by the SECU Board of Directors to present potential changes to the Election Policies and Procedures.  The purpose of the Webinar is to share information with SECU Member Advisory Boards (MAB) prior to the Board taking action on any proposed changes.  More than 3,200 SECU members volunteer through the MABs and serve as local representatives of the SECU membership in an advisory function for SECU and the Board.  Since these meetings are intended for the MABs to learn about the proposed changes and provide input on behalf of members, they will not be open to others.
The Board is considering other options for communicating with the broader SECU membership, including making information regarding potential changes to the Election Policies and Procedures available following the meetings with the MABs.

I appreciate your understanding,
Mona"

... are the members being "Moon'ed" again? Let's hope this is just a phase...

  3. Do you think Ms Moon cares what Sarah Hawes or any other member says? Don’t know why everyone couldn’t watch. Not like anyone can ask a question of this board. We’d all just be watching.

  4. Please someone stream this & post it so the rest of us peasants can stay informed of the bogus changes the Elite 8 are trying to force through without anyone knowing…shady AF 🙄

  5. They should live stream the board meetings. We demand to know what is happening!!

  6. The membership is being betrayed by these board members and CEO (it is the season of betrayal)... evidently voting 3 board members out last October meant nothing to them...

  7. I hate to say it but it appears legal action is going to be the only way to slow their roll ...

  8. Was reading a thing about how non-profit organizations (NPO) turn into 'dicatorships'. Sounds eerily familiar, doesn't it?

    The Five-Step Process of Transformation

    1. Initial Centralization: Often starts with small, seemingly pragmatic changes to improve decision-making speed and efficiency.

    2. Erosion of Accountability Mechanisms
Accountability to stakeholders, including donors, members, and the served community, might weaken. This can happen through reduced transparency, limited access to financial records, and decreased opportunities for stakeholder input into decisions.

    3. Reduction of Democratic Processes: Decreasing the frequency of elections, increasing term lengths, or altering the election process to favor certain outcomes.

    4. Control Over Information: Tightening control over organizational information, reducing transparency to the general membership.

    5. Marginalization of Dissent: Individuals or groups within the NPO raising concerns about the direction of governance may be marginalized, ignored, or removed.

    1. They only like technology when it favors them and their bottom line. They know a live stream with the membership included would be another embarrassment to this admin. They are sick people. Can’t handle the blame so they project onto the employees and membership. F*** this board

  12. Publish the proposed election changes on the website. I can read

    1. No way they let members speak at this years annual meeting. No way

  13. This is the attempt to "appear" as though they've consulted the membership about the changes. Except that advisory board members are hand-picked by SECU. During my time in the branch, these were nice folks who cared and would pass along suggestion from their employer groups, but they were folks who would say "oh ok" when SECU glossed over why they didn't or "couldn't" do what was asked. We didn't pick people who weren't prone to trust and go along. Just saying....

  14. Time for advisory boards to do their jobs and tell members what's going on about elections, lending, low rates, high costs. They'll get their ears packed on lower quality of service

  15. VPs getting declined for the BOD WebEx meeting is beyond absurd. They don’t want us to know what’s going on clearly
