SECU's "New Improved" Risk-Based Lending Increases Chances For A Quick Decision...

😎  Heard about the new risk-based lending (RBL) policies and procedures just introduced by your Credit Union? [link] No, didn't think so.

Like most of the "member enhancements" introduced by the SECU Board over the last two years, these new rules and limitations are so wonderful that the Legacy Board evidently doesn't want to tell you about them!

Must be part of that "new/new", industry standard marketing focus. Guess its "Don't tell, don't ask"?!

Here's a graphic of the new policies and limitations :

✅ Here's the quick decision more members are likely to receive:

✅ Don't you feel it?

... can't wait for "the spin"!

  1. The same member who would’ve been approved yesterday has to be declined today. And yes the approval would be warranted. It’s a damn shame.

  2. Being a SECU lender is no longer glamorous-10 years ago most employees could not wait to be the Sr lender in their branch/call center- it was the career path most of us could hardly get there fast enough, the power to make the decision with the limits to approve it- now I just about dread taking applications and disclosing discriminatory rates and terms, the glamor is long gone

    1. It's not an option in mss to move up to fso. Just take calls and that's all they want out of us. Mindless

    2. It's also embarrassing for tellers when members ask about speaking to someone about a new loan. These are normally members that would've gotten approved in the past and dont stand a chance in hell now. I used to take pride in the fact that we treated everyone equally and tried to HELP EVERYONE!! People deserve the chance to rebuild their credit due to a divorce, loss of income at some point or whatever caused the blemish/blemishes. With all that said, as a teller, it makes me sad, and angry, that the member will more than likely be denied.

    3. Not sure being an SECU lender, or any lender for that matter, has ever been “glamorous”.

    4. Isn't it wonderful to feel that your job is glamorous? And to be sad that the glamour has been taken from you?

    5. Absolutely was glamorous, being able to provide a decent interest rate to the member who didn’t have the best score but you were able to hear their story and get them approved and they were so grateful, so appreciative, did everything to make sure they made that loan payment on time every time-waived to you any time they saw you in the branch after that-if that’s not what you consider a glamorous job, perhaps loan officer isn’t for you?

    6. @12:50 same! As a teller, if these members are asking me now to speak to someone, we’ve been the right thing and telling them not to waste their time. So sad!

    1. Moving deep into everybody does it? but better than we are doing it! "Bye bye sterling reputation and we don't care" says The Brady Bunch!
