Then: "Put an end to the spin"!
✅ At the 2023 SECU Annual Meeting last year, the membership sent the 3 incumbent Board members packing. The members said “Enough!”
✅ Need to spin that 2023 success one more cycle:
Vote "All 4 in '24"!!!
Jean Blaine - Susie Ford - Julian Hawes - Kirby Parrish
.... for more info!
While you wait for "this load" to finish check out...
"Assets in U.S. money markets hit a record $6.24 trillion this month, data from the Investment Company Institute showed on Aug. 21"
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't because they were paying 2% .... just sayin!
But Leigh Brady says our rates are the best in the market, just saying.
DeleteThanks for the laugh!!
ReplyDeleteAs you might imagine, Mike Lord's post set off a rant verging on a "double-hissy" by a couple of our favorite anonymouse trolls, who keep demanding transparency and a voice - but never include their names! You know the type.
ReplyDeleteBut a couple of sentences were worthy of note. First about the $5 billion "fleecing the Fed loan" here's the quote:
"Whether we should have taken advantage of the free money and given it to depositors, is a fair question, but a different one."
The idea of "taking advantage" of the Fed (or SECU members via race-based lending!) is not a different question. THE core question among members is: "Can we trust SECU anymore?"
If the current leadership is willing "to take advantage" of the Fed, why would they care about - let's use the more common term - screwing a trusting member in need of help?
The other phrase to note is "... take advantage of the free money... ". Any competent financial or business person knows there is no such thing as "free money". Somebody is always "paying the freight" whether they know it or not
Unless, of course, you're stealing or "taking advantage" of someone... not sure which of those this anonymouse is endorsing?
Just another clear example of the urgent need for: "All 4 in '24!" ? It's time for the membership to vote to restore "Do The Right Thing" at your credit union.
🧹🧹🧹🧹 we got some sweeping to do
DeleteOn this post and the long comment above, there was yet another round of hiss in the hissy fit from "Anonymouse"!
DeleteHere is the bottom line quote from him/her:
"You're right, nothing is free. Taxpayers footed the bill, but SECU benefited from this program. In that situation, was it immoral to take the loan?"
"Respectfully, taking the loan doesn't seem like fleecing the Fed and to go from that to the notion that if we'd screw them we'd screw the members too is a really long walk, especially when the issue at hand is one where the membership was protected and derived a benefit."
A couple of observations:
1) "You're right nothing is free." Thank you for that admission; there really isn't any free money. The $40 million which SECU admits it took did come out of someone's pocket.
2) From whose pocket did SECU take the $40 million? "Taxpayers footed the bill, but SECU benefited..." I guess that makes it alright?
3) Who are "the taxpayers" who will have to repay the $40 million? Isn't that you and me?
4) "... to go from that to the notion that if we'd screw them [the Fed] we'd screw the members too is a really long walk,..." This $5 billion loan and the conduct of SECU over the last 3 years have led many members to question the ethical core of our SECU leadership.
5) Quite a few members don't have difficulty answering your question: "Was it immoral to take the loan?" Sorry, that you struggle to answer such a question! It is not "a long walk" from the $5 billion fleece to doubting the foundation by which you make all decisions.
6) Don't dirty the membership's hands with... "the issue at hand is one where the membership was protected..." Protecting us? That's not why the leadership made the loan. Be honest enough to own it.
7) "... and derived a benefit..." All SECU members as taxpayers appreciate the "benefit" we derived in having to pay back that $40 million. Or was it free money?
8) Vote 4 More in '24... before the incumbent board members give us any more "benefits"!
9) Some folks need to take a "long walk"....
🧹🧹🧹🧹 we got some sweeping to do
DeleteStrange isn't it how lip service is paid to "do the right thing" but it is clear to us, they do not know how to...
