America’s Biggest Bank Is Growing the Old-Fashioned Way: Branches
[WSJ 2/6/2024] -The bank has opened branches in 25 new states, plus Washington, D.C.,
since 2018. Its nearly 4,800 locations are in every state in the Lower
48, an achievement it alone has unlocked.
✅ “Our approach to expansion is deeply analytical,” Jennifer Piepszak, co-CEO of consumer and community banking at JPMorgan, said at the bank’s investor day last month. “So it is a love affair with branches, just to be totally clear."
North Carolina branch locations:
41 branches in N.C. and adding... (see any pattern?)
😎 You can bet that the leadership at Chase bank has a clear cut, viable, "in-your-face" strategic plan for North Carolina.
The "Leg 8" - Mona Moon, Chair,
Stelfanie Williams, Vice-Chair, Jennifer Haygood, Sec-Treas, Chris
Ayers, Bob Brinson, Mark Fleming, Ben McLawhorn, McKinley Wooten, Jr.
... do "They"? What is it?
secu doesn't close branches they just starve us to death
ReplyDeletethey haven't opened a new branch in small NC towns in 3 years. too proud to serve the pheasants
Deletemeant peasants. sorry. us rednecks!
DeleteReady in Red Springs, bring it.
DeleteAnd that board wants to compete with Chase?! Going after the same A paper folks. Who's going to win them over? Wanna bet? We are a Credit Union. Stay in our lane. People of modest means and Serve them the best! SECU would own North Carolina! Isn't that what it was set up to do?
ReplyDeleteThey want to go after all our members. Chase can have everyone else.
DeleteI believe the board and executive team are surprised how smart the employees of SECU are. Unorthodox sure and a little redneck….but smart. I believe they thought Hayes would walk right over us. Deep down, I think the goal is more than RBL…it’s about defeating and overthrowing a worker co-op. Not even saying that’s the board and Leigh’s goal. I think all this came from above them. NCUA etc…I believe they want the worker co-ops defeated and they are pushing them to carry this out. Maybe they are money addicted, but I feel like if Leigh truly had a say…she would’ve backed out of this a long time ago and maybe would have tried to return to what secu was. I believe the orders are coming from somewhere higher than the board and exec team. It’s about defeating a worker member owned co-op. RBL is just a small piece.
ReplyDeleteyep ...
DeleteName one positive thing This Board has accomplished for the Members or Employees of the credit union since 2021. These Eight individuals have done enough damage to SECU! No reason for them to be smiling, I would hang my head in shame over the Hayes decision alone.
ReplyDeleteClean up will be ongoing..
We must value humanity over profit at the credit union. If we aren’t doing that….might as well close the doors. Karma has a way of coming around..
ReplyDeleteBob Brinson, Mark Fleming, McKinley Wooten and Stelphanie Williams. These are The Four in 24! We "retired" three in 23, Garland, Sanford, and Parrish last year. Four More in 24!!! Then SECU will be run for the people of modest means IN North Carolina. Bring the jobs back, rebuild the knowledge that has been lost while the know-it-alls pictured above have been in charge.
ReplyDeleteHow is Chase going to stay relevant in the future with such an outdated line of thinking? Time for them to bring in Hayes to correct them.
ReplyDeleteI have been reading comments on this blog for several months now. I have noticed a disturbing increase in infighting among employees over the past few months. As a fellow employee, I find this disturbing and saddening. We need to remember that we work for our members every day we show up for work: whether we are branch, MSS, MLS, FAS, internal department, or management.
ReplyDeleteI came to work at SECU because I wanted a career where I could help people. I have had that opportunity almost everyday I have worked here. I have been provided training and tools along the way to help further my career. I have worked or continue to work in a remote contact center and branch. I have opened accounts, underwritten consumer loans, taken and processed mortgage and home equity loans, held life insurance license, operated a teller drawer, worked mortgage and consumer loan collections, and prepared tax returns for members. I have done more than several employees and several employees have done more than me. I am writing all this because if we do this solely based on personal gain of sense of importance we are working for the wrong organization. All employees are important, and we should remember this. No employee should be labeled as “just” anything. There have been times along the way that I have lost sight of my purpose at SECU. I have also seen some of my coworkers lose sight of why they are here. I tell them the same thing I tell myself. Go in the bathroom and take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror. You are not the only reason SECU exists, and you work for the membership. The members are the reason SECU exists and has been since 1937. Now, refocus on your purpose, and get back to work.
If we want to continue our success at SECU, employees must stop the infighting. Remember, members read this blog as well. Do we think members are encouraged from our infighting? If employees truly want to make a change in the way SECU is currently operated let the change begin with us. I have worked for four SECU CEOs and different combinations of Board of Directors during my career. Yes, I have opinions about the way things are, the way they have been, and the way I think they should be. However, one thing is abundantly clear; we work for the membership. There are so many things we should be thankful for at SECU. We must get back to People Helping People and There is a Difference.
I hesitated to assign my name to this post but will because I truly believe in what I am writing. I hope my fellow employees and members find encouragement in this post.
Great post. Employees must unite. No one is superior over the other.

DeleteTeller=VP=SVP=Loan Officer=Manager=FAS=Mortgage specialist=Fraud Dept=Card Services. You get the point. We are EQUAL! We all have a human body and a brain. No one is greater than the other.
DeleteLove it
DeleteSame deal with the membership. we shouldn’t cater to just a certain class.
DeleteThank you. I could not agree more.
DeleteWell said. 100% agree. While we do not all agree on everything., we should still treat every employee with respect and not quickly jump to assumptions. We should remember, they are members too. The only way we will be a unicorn is if we work together.
