SECU: The Sounds Of Silence... The "New/New" Cooperative Movement?

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/bUzOgLMqp04/maxresdefault.jpg You''ll recall that a request was made by Julian Hawes (2024 Board candidate) [link] and others to the SECU Board.

The request was for a copy of procedures for presenting resolutions to the membership and Board. That basic cooperative governance right to address the Board was eliminated by Board self-approved by-law amendments in 2023.

The SECU Board ignored the requests for procedures and refused to respond.  Eventually a letter from an attorney to the SECU Board was required .

Here's the SECU Board response:

  3. There sure do go to great lengths to ensure they can keep those "volunteer" positions. Why would they destroy the credit union and then lawyer up to keep their spots? Cathy P is a good person, but isclearly working for them. These criminals need to be held accountable.

    1. She is an employee of the company. Who else would she be working for? They lawyered up? A member did and wasted their time. Make a coherent argument the law is being misinterpreted, otherwise your comment adds no value.

    2. I hope you don't work for the credit union. That is not people helping people attitude.

    7. @11:37AM it’s says alot about your own character and even more about your argument that, instead of offering a rebuttal, you choose to insult those who disagree with you. Do better.

  4. It would have been easier to just answer the questions rather than trying to justify why legally "we don't owe you an explanation".

    1. They did answer the question. There is nothing in place to allow member resolutions and they are not required to have one.
