Can you elaborate on how this is intimidating?
✅ Four thoughts on that...
1) Employees may be reluctant to submit questions of concern. The fear of retribution by employees - whether real or not - is typical in most businesses.
2) As you've noticed at the national level, retribution is real (by both political parties!) and has become a hard-edged, take no prisoners war.
3) No one believes that the names attached to questions will remain anonymous.
4) The anonymice of "Social Media" (pictured above!) can be both vicious and vindictive, unconstrained by the truth or and need for accuracy.
😎 Why would an SECU member risk "putting themselves in play"?
Anyway, why is it necessary?
Why would SECU not want to ensure it is responding to member questions vs general public, or even worst, banker submitted questions?
ReplyDeleteIm not sure I understand this logic. If SECU is truly above board and doing the right things, then there would be no need to filter any questions, even from "banker" submitted questions, whatever that means?
DeleteI can assure you that there is a real fear from current employees to ask questions about decisions being made for fear of being chastised or even worse. An environment of "our way or the highway" has been implemented. Problem is, there have been way to many missteps with our current path. And before anyone asks what those missteps may be....go back over the past few years and review this blog.
Why would banker submitted questions be bad we have members who work at banks
DeleteWhat is wrong with answering anyone's questions about SECU? Have a box at the meeting and let people drop them in the box. Pull out the question at the meeting and answer it. If you can't, say you will get the answer and post it on line. Answer s many as possible in the hour allotted, post them all up on the internet in a day or two. Viola! Open, transparent, questions asked and answered.
Delete@8:28. Wouldn’t be bad if they were members.
Delete@7:24. Nothing. That’s why there is an hour for Q&A. What’s your point?
DeleteIf you can’t figure out why the Board should only need to respond to member submitted questions, then you don’t understand what a credit union is.
Delete8:26 then I don’t think the bankers comment was necessary leave it with that you don’t think non members should be able to ask questions.
DeleteAs is evident in the comments in the blog, for example. When there's no way out, the comments are enraged and end up with leave SECU - be it as a member or an employee....
ReplyDeleteThose comments aren’t coming from the Board or ELT. Folks need to remember this is not an official communication forum for SECU. Doubt anyone at the annual meeting will be told to leave SECU.
DeleteIf you aren’t an employee or a member, why should SECU spent time and resources on answering your question?
DeleteHaha as if life is that simple I hate it when I am told just leave if you don’t like it. If we don’t fight for what we feel is important then there will be no where to leave and go too.
Delete@8:28, @10:38 How do you know those comments aren't coming from Board or ElLT or an employee or a member? Even you are under an annonymous thread....
DeleteNo one has declared this as an official communication forum, including Mr.Blaine.
The board and employee know they have to let everyone know their name if they are answering questions about the CU
