SECU Board Elections: Don't Forget! Time Is Running Out To Be Counted!

  Members should have a choice!

Two highly qualified, long-time SECU members, Julian Hawes and Barry Browning, are on the 2026 ballot having been member-nominated by petition.  Both were qualified as candidates by the SECU nominating committee, but were not selected. Incumbents as usual were preferred.

Hawes and Browning are seeking election because the SECU Board has repeatedly over the last 3 years acted to suppress SECU member participation in their credit union.

SECU members are losing their democratic rights in their credit union.

✔  Look at how participation in your Annual SECU Membership Meeting has changed:

Recent Year   Member May Speak     Member Resolutions

       2022              Fully Permitted         Fully Permitted

       2023                 Restricted                  Restricted

       2024                 Prohibited                 Restricted

       2025                 Prohibited                 Prohibited

✔  No Board election was held in 2025.

✔ Member-led Loan Review Committees: Have been eliminated!

✔  In the works for SECU Members? Only Board self-selected candidates eligible to run?

The SECU Board has passed a bylaw amendment which would increase the petition signature requirement for member-nominated Board candidates from 500 members to over 6,000+ members - and upwards as membership continues to rise!

For some reason our CEO, Leigh Brady won't admit this has happened [link]!

✔ Hope you will help preserve your right to select and and vote for member-nominated Board candidates.

✅ Please consider casting your votes for Julian Hawes and Barry Browning. Your ballot is still valid if you vote only for the 2 member-nominated candidates.

  1. You continue to say the bylaws were amended without proof. The CEO has denied it.

  2. 9:14am Don't try to make a liar out of our CEO. Ms. Brady has never denied the SECU Board approved bylaw amendments in September, 2025. Here take a look:

But to clarify the matter, she will have another chance to just say yes or no at the upcoming Annual Meeting Q&A.

    1. The stupid charade continues. 2 guys running for the wrong reason - because supposed by laws were changed to make it harder to self nominate, but of course they weren’t, and they easily cleared to hurdle to get the member signatures.

Hate to tell you this, but the CEO isn’t going to address this, so I guess you can just go on and line about it. It’s 100% irrelevant whether the board changed those bylaws. It will be relevant if the implement a requirement for more sigs. If they do, you’ll hear about it when the rest of us do, and in plenty of time to get the sigs to run, abd all of that would conform to regs and bylaws.

I hope they do change. We have 3 million members. Asking for 1/5th of 1% of the members to try and write you onto the ballot is perfectly reasonable and in fact, industry standard. And to the extent it deters more unqualified people from running, then good. That’s the point.

    2. 10:17 am Wow! On behalf of Ms. Brady, I would suggest that you let her speak for SECU.

"Hate to tell you this..." but all you seem to be doing here is confirming that the bylaw amendments were approved by the SECU Board... and even provide details. Pretty bizarre!

You're not doing anyone any favors with this rant.
Let someone fully knowledgeable ... like our CEO answer the question publicly for members.

It has been submitted. Hush now!
